Newbury Carnival 2007
Celebrating Stage and Screen!
We thought that it was pretty cool that there was a carnival in town after we arrived. Kicking it off was a parade. We got there just in time for the start--a bunch of Harley's cruised passed. The rain was coming down, but soon stopped after about 5 mins and was clear for the rest of the day. I've been amazed at the weather--hot, mild, chilly, cold and rainy--all in one day :)

To be part of the parade is free and apparently a great way to advertise your business or club. We also found out it was also a way to donate money to the clubs. Each float or entrant had at least 2 people with buckets to put coins into...most had a lot more...the small kids with the buckets seemed to get lots of people putting money into (they were very cute though). Mat put pretty much all the coins we had in the firefighters bucket at the start of the parade..suppose they would be the most important group. Next time we will save our pennies and spread out...a lot of the smaller spectators had plastic dishes filled with coins to put into the buckets.
