What an amazing day out we had today! We were being hosted by Austra
lia Post--and were spoiled! Our day started at Bicentennial Park at the Sydney Olympic site. There we were given bags full of fun stuff for today and a t-shirt for Nicholas! We were ushered into a marquee to watch 2 short DVD's of what was to come and how the dinosaurs were constructed. We walked out of the tent to be greeted by a crocodile and lizards from the Reptile Park in Gosford. Then we had a wonderfully catered BBQ lunch, with lollie bags for the kids. We then headed back to our cars to go to the arena.
"Walking With Dinosaurs - the Live Experience" is "the closest you'll ever get to experiencing what it was like when dinosaurs walked the Earth!" There were 15 dinosaurs making their world debut which started on Wednesday--the show will be in the US in July after travelling around Australia.
Nicholas really enjoyed this show..wasn't bothered by the loud scary roaring or the size of the dinosaurs! At one point he thought they were cows because they were moaning--very funny! We were 7 rows from the front of the stage--and it was so amazing to watch them move--very very lifelike! Each dinosaur had 3 "handlers" who controlled them..."A driver in a motorized sled between the dinosaurs' legs maneuvers each beast around the stadium floor. Meanwhile, a puppeteer hidden in the stands controls each dinosaur's arms, head and tail with a so-called "voodoo rig" _ a miniature, flexible version of each beast. When the puppeteer flicks the miniature tail, the life-sized dinosaur responds by remote control. A third puppeteer manipulates the eyelids and jaw with a joystick, and controls its sounds."
