Old Wardour Castle

This castle was built in the late 14th centrury-mostly as a luxurious residence. It was destroyed during the Civil War and in the 18th century a New Wardour Castle was built on a different site. Part of the movie Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, was filmed here.

We met up with another family and had a picnic before exploring the castle (or what remains that is).

Nicholas thought exploring the castle was even better than a playcentre--although my heart could have stopped few times with all the toddler traps :)
