We set out to West Sussex today to visit a 20th century garden called Nymans Garden. Main reason for going was that they were doing some Spring activities that sounded fun. Nicholas decorated an egg to hang on the Easter tree and then planted some marigold seeds in a little pot to take home.
For some reason an ice-cream at this point sounded good--then it started to rain. So we took cover while Dad retrieved Nic's raincoat. After the ice-cream, we did a walk around the gardens.
Apparently this garden houses lots of rare and important plants as well as a ruin (we think it might have been a school)...but I think we're about a month or two too early. But we could see that in another month or so, it would be beautiful with everything in bloom. There are lots of paths to take and if you felt adventurous you could wander into Nymans Woods.

Good thing he's getting plenty of practice exploring, because his cousin's latest theory is that she and Nic (and her friend Bronte) are going to go to Treasure Island together...

Good thing you bought Nic that raincoat; seems he'll be wearing that more than most of his other clothes! :)
